To flail about the fact that Hockey RPF is a qualifying fandom for Remix Redux this year, and I've written enough Hockey RPF stories to qualify! I'm kind of really incredibly excited about this, as I've wanted to participate in Remix for years but I've never had enough stories in a single fandom to qualify before. I'm looking forward to the challenge!

In the meantime, I'm still hockey obsessed. Got to watch the Blackhawks beat down the Blues at United Center last week while visiting family in Chicago, which was pretty amazing -- the atmosphere there is really something else -- and am now the proud owner of a small teddy bear Tazer. He was almost a teddy bear Kaner or teddy bear Duncs instead, but I just couldn't resist his adorable little supercilious expression. I fall a little more in love with my Dallas and Texas Stars every day, it's completely ridiculous. Also ridiculous are my many affectionate feelings about so many players on so many teams. Mostly based on their actual hockey playing, these days (but not solely, I must admit). For example, I've had a thing for Ryan McDonagh since I snagged him for my fantasy hockey team in 2011-12 partway through the year because of injuries and then couldn't ever bring myself to switch him back out because he was always so consistent and steady; watching the Flyers @ Rangers game tonight gave me super embarrassingly proud feelings I probably shouldn't admit to. Only things like that happen basically all the time. It's just a fact of my life now. Another day, another hockey enthusiasm. ♥

I have all sorts of Olympics things to say (especially about the figure skating! That Russian ice dancing team that did the Swan Lake made me swoon), and also things about such diverse topics as Community, Elementary (Joan Watson ♥_♥), Lone Survivor (which gave me such a craving for GK fic), the Lego Movie, the Voice, Dancing with the Stars (Meryl & Maks forever!!), Grimm, the October Daye books, and I'm sure tons of other things not coming to mind right now. And I should probably make a Yuletide post covering the past couple of years at some point...

I hope that by the time I get my act together enough to have written sufficient fic in one of the qualifying fandoms to participate in Remix, [ profile] musesfool (or someone, anyway) will still be running it, because it sounds like a ton of fun. I also wish I had more time today for fic-reading, as it opened for reading yesterday and there are plenty more that interest me. But schoolwork calls, and so, instead I will content myself with having sampled some of the crossovers. (I have a huge weakness for crossovers. I think this comes from character interaction being the number one reason I read fic. There are many other elements I appreciate in fic, but good, interesting character interaction is at the top of the list. It probably helps that I tend to believe that in some way, most of those other elements could be thought of as collapsing into human interaction, sometimes just on a rather grand scale.) I enjoyed enough of them that it seemed to make sense to throw together a reclist. I have all sorts of half put-together reclists lying around on my hard drive and crazy elaborate plans for others, but sometimes it's good just to get something out there. I'm sure my profs wish I would apply that concept to grad school more often.

Note: the authors listed here are all sockpuppets; I will hopefully remember to go back and add actual authors once the reveal occurs. Authors added!

A Moon-Lit Challenge (The Ill-Met, Proud Titania Remix) by [ profile] vulgarweed. Good Omens/His Dark Materials, Adam/Lyra, "with appearances by, of course, Pantalaimon, as well as Mary Malone, Dog, Aziraphale, Crowley, and a guest star," R. This is utterly gorgeous, in a rather dark and overwhelming and aching sort of way, with just enough levity mixed in as counterpoint. Seriously lovely.

Attack of the Five Foot Ten Woman (The Slip Your Skin Remix) by [ profile] musesfool (eta: I totally should have guessed!). Sports Night/Supernatural, no pairing, PG. Structured as Jeremy writing a letter to Louise, featuring Dean, Sam, and the Sports Night ensemble. Hilarious and charming, with a fantastic Jeremy-voice, spot-on Sorkinesque dialogue, and excellent flow. Delightful.

It's Hour Come Round (The Paradigm Shift Remix) by [ profile] medie. Smallville/Supernatural, Chloe/Sam, PG-13. Absorbing and fascinating, and Chloe is terrific in this. Very cool.

Every Farthing of the Cost (the Dingoes Ate My Baby remix) by [ profile] meredavechon. Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Harry Potter, Oz & Remus, implied Remus/Sirius, PG. Quiet, warm, and thoroughly enjoyable.
